What is the best gaming CPU for streaming and gaming at the same time? The [best gaming CPU](https://techyassist.net/blog/best-cpu-for-gaming/ ) that also does streaming or recording is not necessarily the one with the most FPS though because extra work is involved for a streamer. Playing a game is one thing; spending CPU time encoding video, running chat overlays and a browser, and so on, is another. Many streamers offload some of that work to their GPU's hardware encoder to lessen the strain on the processor, which makes a gaming-focused chip viable. Additional cores add just that, offering a lot of breathing room. For straightforward gaming, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been consistently judged the top general performer, and that was still the case in August 2026's update from Tom's Hardware. Its 3D V-Cache architecture is mainly well suited to gaming, but it does fall a little behind other chips for heavy multi-threaded workloads, making it better for streamers encoding with a GPU. If you need both gaming performance and workstation capability, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is positioned at the top of the lineup and targets users who play games and also handle intensive creative tasks, although it is a lot more expensive. For a more affordable compromise, Intel's Core Ultra 5 250K Plus is recommended for those who game and perform productivity tasks, including streaming and editing videos. The Ryzen 5 7600X3D retains most of the X3D gaming gain at a lower price point, but it has fewer cores so more CPU encoding is less approachable. A student-style value build can get away with the Ryzen 5 9600X, which WePC describes as AMD's best value CPU for many years, although it needs a higher TDP mode for top-of-the-line performance.Keep the other parts in mind when selecting a CPU, fast memory, a solid cooling system, and a quality power supply will keep any chip running at its best through hours of gaming, though the costs of motherboard and memory have made up a bigger share of the money in 2026. Always compare before buying, because CPU prices are in a constant state of flux before you buy.
